St Augustine's Halo Project

Stage 1 of the F-8 Halo Project at St Augustine’s College marked the initial introduction of a distinctive ‘halo’ to the junior campus. The Halo acts as both a symbolic design element and a practical circulation device, acting to link existing isolated buildings within the school to well-connected spaces for students within the same community.

This transformative first stage of the Halo focuses on the year 1 - 4 areas, encompassing learning spaces, amphitheatres, flexible areas, wet area zones, meeting and staff spaces.

Throughout the project, careful consideration has been given to crafting small nooks, breakout spaces, and intervention zones. The incorporation of mezzanines in the year 3 – 4 learning areas not only enriches the environment but also amplifies opportunities for student engagement and agency in their learning experience.

Extending this approach, the creation of the Halo courtyard stands out as a pivotal development. This space not only offers easy accessibility and enjoyment for both play and learning but also reinforces the clear visual connection between the various buildings linked by the Halo.
